Wow, it feels like we have been waiting forever to be able to say this, but we have booked our flights and will be going to be with our girl very soon!
As much as we really wanted to be with her on her birthday, that wasn't an option, BUT we will be arriving in Colombia on that day! Of course we'll have to do a fun celebration a few days late. I should probably back up and say that our checklist is basically complete.... the I-800 was approved, we have applied for and received our VISAs, and the flights and accommodations for our trip have been booked!
We have now had three Skype dates with our princesa, and each one has been so special! I know I shared about the first one already, and the second one we played a game together that I had translated and prepared. My favorite moment so far has been this week's Skype though because she really surprised us and it was adorable! We started off by teaching her a song and movements that we know and then moved to painting Christmas trees "together". While we were painting, Ben asked if she had a favorite song that she wanted us to learn to sing with her next week. She didn't give an answer and her psychologist told Ben that she had sent a few links to me and we could just choose one of those. As she listed off the names of some of the songs, our smart little girl heard the title "Mariposita" and immediately looked up and sand the whole song for us. So I think we can confidently move forward in making sure we ALL know this one by heart.
We are all incredibly eager to be there and see her face to face. Let's be real, this mamá is dying to wrap my arms around her. As exciting as it all is, we know that the reality of all of these changes can be rather overwhelming for everyone involved, especially her. So, please do continue to keep us in your prayers!
Only 32 days to go! With all of the Christmas festivities happening, packing, cleaning and organizing, and such that is to be done, it'll be here quickly, and for that I'm thankful.
